Shrove Tuesday

Today is Shrove Tuesday, the final day before the 40-day period of Lent begins. To shrive means to absolve. Today we can spend some time preparing ourselves for our Lenten Journey, which begins tomorrow with Ash Wednesday.

Shrove Tuesday has also became a day for pre-fasting indulgence. In particular, the need to use up rich ingredients such as butter, milk, sugar and eggs before Lent gave rise to the tradition of eating pancakes on this day. If you aren't attending the pancake supper at CCE, consider making pancakes or other indulgent foods today -- a fun tradition!

Tomorrow morning, we will post the first Lenten Gospel Reflection. We hope you can set aside a moment each to read the reflection and spend time with God.

How to Follow:

We also warmly invite you to gather for Ash Wednesday Worship, March 2 and 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM at Christ Church. A recording of the 8:00 AM service will also be available so you can worship online.
